Dockers Super Bowl Ad – A Hit?

Super Bowl is over. Saints have won the game (yayyyy!) and here we are… recalling some of the best moments of last night’s game. It’s now become tradition, you know. At lunch time in the office and during coffee breaks the only thing which most of us used to discuss were the hits and the misses from the winners and the losers of the game but today there was another popular topic too – The Super Bowl Ads. Though I love Tim Tebow, and I think his mother was looking really pretty, for me the most successful ad was Dockers Super Bowl Ad!

Dockers Super Bowl Ad started with a bunch of men wearing blazers, T-shirts, button-ups, but the only thing which they were not wearing was their pants. Marching across an open field these men were singing the slogan, ‘I wear no pants’ in chorus…and then a husky voice says, ‘Calling all men, It’s time to wear the pants’… and then the Dockers Super Bowl Ad ended with an offer for thousands of free khakis.

Dockers Super Bowl Ad was probably one of those ads with underwear men which actually looked funny (and not in bad way). And not just that the ad was fun, it was pretty successful too. I’ve been seeing reviews for the Super Bowl ads and the reviews for the Dockers Super Bowl Ad are quite positive.

Personally, I think Dockers Super Bowl Ad was a hit. The sole purpose of an ad is to let people know about your brand and to make them appear at your store. An ad should draw people and should make them buy the product. Watching the Dockers Super Bowl Ad and seeing the response just a day after the ad was aired, I must say that Dockers have made full benefit out of their Super Bowl ad spot. In an amusing way to advertise their latest apparel Dockers have launched a new campaign. For all those who have witnessed this Sunday’s entertaining Super Bowl the new Dockers ad would have been an unusual one but nevertheless it was catchy at the same time.

For all those who missed out on the 30-second ad, here’s the summary. The ad starts off with a group of juvenile pantless men merrily marching across a field and on the same time singing “I wear no pants” and taking pride in their pantlessness. The joyous adventure is interrupted by a message in a masculine voice which speaks out to the audience “Calling all men, it’s time to wear the pants” while displaying a model who is wearing a t-shirt and supporting a khaki.

The khaki has long been associated with the military uniforms all over the world, which itself represents a symbol of masculinity, pride and respect. This is the prime reason that khaki products and campaigns have been a hit and have been warmly received by both the masculine and feminine genders.

According to the VP of Dockers global marketing, the campaign is meant to relaunch their khaki line of products. “We’re sending out a humorous call to manhood” he says. And the selection of Super Bowl as the occasion of the launching of the campaign is pretty obvious as it being one of the ‘manliest’ of days of the sports calendar, as he terms it.
